FILM
- Knives Out
- 22/11/2020
- Curious to watch Daniel Craig with a southern American accent but an enjoyable if silly film. More twists and turns than a curly wurly
- Never Go Back
- 11/10/2020
- Jack Reacher film adapted from the book I just finished reading. It has the same basic themes and a few bits which are identical but a lot of it is in a different order and some major stuff missing completely. Obviously you can’t include everything
- Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
- 17/08/2020
- The fourth film and I thought it was really good. Over the top as always of course but very exciting
- Ocean’s 8
- 12/07/2020
- I thought this was much better than the critics gave it credit for. Enjoyable although very similar to the previous films
- The Mummy
- 10/07/2020
- This is the remake with Tom Cruise. It must really piss him off that he is in a film that is not as good as one with Brendan Fraser
- Passengers
- 05/07/2020
- Not too spacey meant that Lesley could enjoy it too. Got a bit creepy stalkery in the middle but resolved itself I think. I thought it was a really good film
- Tomb Raider
- 22/06/2020
- This is the recent version with Alicia Vikander. Definitely much better than the old version with Angelina Jolie
- Justice League
- 22/062020
- Not too bad a film but feel as though the DC films are constantly trying to copy or catch up with the Marvel films and always fall a little short. The CGI looks poor in places and the story lines are weaker. At least they injected a little humour into this one with the Flash but again it felt a little like it was copying the recent Spiderman films
- Ex Machina
- 09/06/2020
- I’ve been meaning to watch this for a while and really enjoyed it. I was a little disappointed with the ending but in some ways it is good that it was not a saccharine everything is perfect type of ending
- Logan
- 10/06/2020
- Always difficult to find time to watch 15 certificate films as Lucas can watch them but Harry can’t. This was surprisingly violent but in an amusing way most of the time and was a good way to bring an end to the Wolverine journey
- Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets
- 27/05/2020
- Strange film but looks great although perhaps a bit too CGI-heavy. No surprise to see at the end it was a Luc Besson film. I thought Cara Delavigne was better than expected
- Spiderman Far From Home
- 01/05/2020
- Another good Spiderman movie. Tom Holland seems to be the best incarnation of recent years. The films are more tongue in cheek
- Zootropolis
- 29/04/2020
- Quite an enjoyable animated film. Funny in places and doesn’t take itself too seriously
- Fantastic Four
- 28/04/2020
- Fairly decent reboot. Dramatically different story to the original. Not always good but generally better I think
- Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer
- 27/04/2020
- Quite lame sequel. Not too bad but just a bit weak
- Fantastic Four 26/04/2020
- Not as bad as I thought it would be. A bit twee in places certainly but still fairly decent
- Skyscraper
- 23/04/2020
- Lots of great action as you might expect from Dwayne Johnson but completely ridiculous in place. Inoffensive fun though
- Fast and Furious 8
- 03/04/2020
- Fast and Furious 7
- 02/04/2020
- Secret Life Of Pets 2 ???
- Shazam
- 22/02/2020
- This was better than I expected. I thought it would be silly and a little lame but was actually quite amusing and well done
- Batman Vs Superman
- 15/02/2020
- I know we are late to the party with this one, just not got round to watching it. Quite a decent film although takes ages to get going. First hour or more is quite confusing and bounces all over the place. We ended up watching the ultimate edition which was 3 hours long. Way too long in my eyes
- What We Do In The Shadows
- 07/01/2020
- Absolutely hilarious mockumentary about 3 rubbish vampires living together.
- Star Wars IX The Rise Of Skywalker
- 05/01/2020
- Star Wars VIII The Last Jedi
- 02/01/2020
- Solo A Star Wars Story
- 01/01/2020
- Aquaman
- 24/11/2019
- That was really rather poor. Story was all over the place and made little sense.
- Spiderman Into The Spiderverse
- 20/10/2019
- Kids enjoyed it but I found it very jarring. Probably because I’m old. Some good moments though.
- Baywatch
- 10/08/2019
- Quite enjoyable really. Very tongue in cheek and take it as it is. It’s not going to win any awards or anything but is good fun.
- Hunger Games: The Mockingjay Part 2
- 05/08/2019
- Took us ages to finally get round to watching this. Partly because Part 1 hadn’t been that compelling. Part 2 is so much better.
- The Watch
- 15/07/2019
- Quite weak Ben Stiller film (aren’t they all?)
- Toy Story 4
- 30/06/2019
- John Wick
- 29/06/2019
- The Big Short
- 20/06/2019
- Absolutely Fabulous The Movie
- 16/06/2019
- Utter drivel. A few funny moments but quite poor really.
- Friends With Benefits
- 12/05/2019
- Enjoyable film with Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake
- X-Men Apocalypse
- 11/05/2019
- Avengers: End Game
- 26/04/2019
- Captain Marvel
- 07/04/2019

- The Hobbit 2 11/07/2015
- Minions 28/06/2015
- We went to see this for Harry’s birthday and are big fans of the Minions in general. However ,I was a little disappointed by this film. The minions are great and their antics are quite amusing but the story was very thin and I thought it struggled to fill the film time.
- The Hobbit 01/07/2015
- Fast And Furious 2 21/06/2015
- The Fast And The Furious 20/06/2015
- The Sweeney 19/06/2015
- Alpha Papa 26/05/2015
- Alan Partridge is obviously not to everyone’s taste but this film is very funny and plays on his insecurities and character failings perfectly.
- Bourne Legacy 26/05/2015
- I was not sure if I wanted to watch this as I thought Matt Damon was excellent in the other 3 films. However, it is not Bourne played by someone else but rather another character of the same type. Excellent action sequences as in the other Bourne films and a decent story line continuing from the 3rd film where the CIA and trying to shutdown and erase all traces of Treadstone.
- Interstellar 09/05/2015
- I watched this recently on BT and was one of the first times I have used the facility to pay for a film. It was well worth it. What a fantastic film. Probably a bit too sci-fi and spacey for my wife although it has excellent Earth-based human elements in it too and certainly got me on the hook emotionally. It did get a bit on the far-fetched side towards the end as a the time loop/travel and multi-dimension part was revealed. It is also pretty hardcore on the science front in places although I am sure you can just ignore most of that.
- X-Men Days Of Future Past 04/05/2015
- Yet another Marvel film building up the collection at home. The kids are big fans at the moment so this was an enjoyable family film to watch at home. There is generally nothing special about these films story-wise although this is one of the better ones. Once again, time travel makes story lines a bit confusing in places, especially for younger viewers. Good film though.
- The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (American) 30/04/2015
- I recorded this off the TV having seen the Swedish versions a few years ago. I hadn’t originally been interested in watching the American version but it is actually very good. It sticks extremely closely to the book and is just as gruesome and explicit in places. Last week I came downstairs on Saturday morning to find my 6-year old son was watching it. Guess I need to set up parental lock on DVDs and PDR from now on. Fortunately, I don’t think he had got to any of the “interesting” bits.
- Daredevil 25/04/2015
- This is the 2003 Marvel adaptation featuring Ben Affleck. Not the greatest actor to start with and a pretty poor film by all accounts. I was aware that the critics had been pretty scathing so had no intention of buying the DVD. It was on TV so I taped it and we watched it as a family. Just as well I didn’t have to pay for it I think.
- Captain America Winter Soldier 12/04/2015
- Katie got this one for Christmas so we enjoyed sitting down together to watch another in an increasing large collection of Marvel films. The kids are pretty Marvel-obsessed at the moment so they loved it. One of the better ones I think bringing Cap into the current day.

- Lesley and I don’t get to the cinema very often so save our opportunities for something really worthwhile. The latest James Bond definitely did not disappoint. I personally think Daniel Craig is the best Bond ever and Casino Royale is one of my favourite films but this one was pretty damn good too. And I was very sad when they they killed off such a huge recurring character. That poor Aston Martin…
